Milagros Belarmino Baldazo,
Educator & Community Organizer

Milagros “Mila” B. Baldazo was born on July 17, 1936 in Calamba Laguna, Philippines. She graduated with a B.S. in Agriculture, with an Honors Curriculum major in Agricultural Engineering and minor in Mathematics. She also graduated with a M.S. in Education from the University of the Philippines at Los Banos. She earned her Supervisory Endorsement Certificate in Mathematics Curriculum Development and Supervision from Utah State University.

For 40 years, Mila, along with Noli, teamed up as husband and wife in their careers as teachers both in the Philippines and the United States. Mila has received many local, state, national and international awards for excellence in teaching such as: KSL Educator of the Week, first Utahn to receive Scott Crossfield Aerospace Education Teacher of the Year, Utah MESA Advisor of the Year, United States Young Astronauts Chapter Leader Representative to Russia (1989 and 1991), China, Oklahoma, Florida, and Texas, NASA Honors Teacher Award, Kiwanis Teacher of the Month, Utah Christa McAuliffe’s Memorial Award, Salt Lake School District Centennial Community Service Award, and Member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, among many others. She was also a member of the Civil Air Patrol and has also received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Asian Association of Utah and Filipino American Association of Utah (PAAU).

Mila was the first secretary of the PAAU and board member of the Asian Association of Utah (Noli was the first president of the PAAU). She coordinated the first Asian Festival and served as the program coordinator for three years. In 1998, she received the Celebrating Motherhood Award which she claims is her proudest achievement award.
