She Started It – Student Art Contest

Submissions due January 24, 2022

Utah women have always made history, but their stories are often forgotten. To change that, we’re asking for student art submissions through January 24, 2022. Winners in each age category will receive cash awards and prizes from Utah businesses! They’ll also have a chance to be part of a special traveling exhibit. Utah students grades 4-12: Create an original piece of art to tell us about a woman in Utah history who made a difference in your community. Then tell us in your artist statement what you are inspired to do today to follow in her footsteps.

Winners in each age category will be notified by February 1 and will receive cash awards and prizes from Hale Center Theatre, Hogle Zoo, Thanksgiving Point, and Megaplex theaters! Winning artwork will be displayed virtually and at the Utah State Capitol on February 10, 2022.

Utah teachers: Share this contest with your students and consider making it a class assignment! We have lesson plans, scavenger hunts, virtual field trips, and more activities to get your students thinking. It’s also a great question to ask the local historical society.
